Recently, Xinxiang Institute of Engineering in Henan Province completed the installation and commissioning of a 500 L experimental beer-brewing system, creating a “micro craft brewery” for its Food and Brewing Engineering majors. Undertaken as a turnkey project by SDET, the system covers the entire brewing process—including malt mill, brew house, fermentation, cooling, CIP, control, and packaging system. It serves both daily practical teaching needs and small-batch craft beer process R&D.
Part 1: Malt Mill
~ Crush malt and grain ready for brewing
~ Type: grist mill with 4 rollers
~ Capacity: 300kg/h
~ Material: Carbon steel

Part 2: Combi / Stacked Brew House
~ Used to produce wort
~ Capacity: 500L
~ Type: Lauter tun + Whirlpool + Mash tun/brew kettle
~ The mashing and lautering system utilizes steam heating and high-efficiency agitation

Part 3: Fermentation Tanks
~ Transforming wort to beer
~ Capacity: 500L
~ Equipped with precise temperature control

Part 4: Cooling System
~ To cool down the wort and maintain a consistent temperature in various parts of the brewing process.
~ 1 * 1000L Glycol tank
~ 1 * 5HP Chiller

Part 5: Control System
~ PLC control panel
~ Automated PLC control system makes monitoring parameters like temperature, pump speed, and agitation intuitive.

Part 6: CIP
~ Capacity: 50L
~ Type: 2-tank ( 50L Disinfection Tank + 50L Caustic Tank)
~ Used to clean the interior surfaces of tanks, pipes, and other equipment used in beer production without disassembling the equipment.

Part 7: Conclusion
SDET provided full-life cycle service for the project, ranging from installation guidance to post-sales maintenance. This includes a 3-year warranty on major components, a 24-hour response time for equipment failures, and assistance with production licensing documentation, ensuring a seamless experience for the university.
Introducing this 500L craft beer equipment is a key step for Xinxiang Institute of Engineering to deepen the integration of industry and education. It not only upgrades the hardware for practical teaching but also offers students a comprehensive training environment that bridges theoretical knowledge and hands-on brewing.
Moving forward, the facility is expected to serve as an incubator for craft brewing technology R&D and talent development, supplying the local industry with more practical, innovative professionals well-versed in modern brewing techniques.
