The 1500L 2-vessel brewhouse consists of a Mash/Lauter Tun and a Kettle/Whirlpool Tank. With a compact structure and well-balanced configuration, it is ideal for small to medium-sized craft breweries, ensuring high brewing efficiency while maintaining operational convenience and system stability.
Part 1: Mash / Lauter Tun
The Mash/Lauter Tun has an effective working volume of 1500L. During the design stage, we reserve no less than 30% additional headspace to prevent overflow during mashing.
The vessel is equipped with a full glass manway on the top, allowing operators to observe the mashing process and perform internal inspection and cleaning easily.
The tank features a double-wall construction with insulation. It transitions from an upper cone to a flat bottom structure. The insulation material is aluminum silicate, which effectively minimizes heat loss during operation.
A top-mounted agitation system is installed. The rake arms rotate slowly to loosen the grain bed and prevent compaction, avoiding slow or stuck lautering caused by excessive grain bed pressure.
The false bottom is made of SUS304 stainless steel and includes a backflushing function to clean the underside of the screen plates. A wort collection ring ensures uniform and stable wort runoff. A side grain-out door is provided, and the rake bottom is equipped with grain plows to facilitate spent grain removal after lautering.

The entire vessel is supported by four stainless steel legs with reinforcement braces and adjustable foot bolts to ensure operational stability.
A removable sparging ring is installed for the lautering stage. During sparging, hot water is gently and evenly sprayed over the grain bed to maximize residual sugar extraction, improving wort yield while protecting the filter bed structure.
Two 360° rotating CIP spray balls are installed to ensure efficient cleaning.

Part 2: Kettle / Whirlpool Tank
The Kettle/Whirlpool Tank also has an effective volume of 1500L and is heated by steam. It is designed with a dual-zone steam jacket to ensure high heating efficiency and even heat distribution.
The vessel is equipped with a full glass top manway, and both the upper and lower cone sections are insulated.
An internal whirlpool inlet is designed to promote effective trub separation and concentration, improving wort clarity.
The tank bottom includes both high-level and low-level wort outlets, as well as a central drain outlet for convenient emptying and cleaning.
The support structure consists of four stainless steel legs with base plates, reinforcement braces, and adjustable bolts.
A glass level gauge with stainless steel scale plate is installed for real-time liquid level monitoring.

Part 3: System Components & Piping Configuration
The system is equipped with a grant (balance tank) to prevent vacuum formation during lautering, ensuring a stable filtration process.
Wort cooling is achieved through a two-stage suspended plate heat exchanger, allowing efficient temperature reduction.
Wort transfer is handled by a 5T/h sanitary centrifugal pump, meeting the flow requirements of the brewhouse.
All brewhouse piping and valves are made of food-grade SUS304 stainless steel. Welds are completed by automatic welding machines, ensuring uniform weld seams without slag. The internal surfaces are fully polished to eliminate sanitary dead zones, meeting craft brewing hygiene standards.
A hop filter is installed before the plate heat exchanger to effectively remove particulate matter and prevent clogging.
The system integrates wort aeration and temperature measurement devices, allowing precise temperature monitoring while injecting an appropriate amount of oxygen into the wort to support optimal fermentation conditions.
Part 4: Operation Platform & Control System
The system is equipped with a stainless steel operation platform, enabling operators to monitor both the Mash/Lauter Tun and Kettle/Whirlpool Tank conveniently and safely. Based on site limitations, the platform design has been customized to better suit the client’s layout requirements.
The control system includes a SUS304 stainless steel brewhouse control cabinet. Main control functions include:
~ PT100 temperature signal acquisition and display
~ Rake motor start/stop control
~ Rake variable frequency speed control
~ Wort pump start/stop control
~ Wort pump variable frequency speed control

The entire control system is intuitive, stable, and fully capable of meeting daily craft brewing production requirements.
The 1500L 2-vessel brewhouse offers a well-engineered balance between efficiency, flexibility, and operational simplicity, making it an excellent choice for growing craft breweries. By integrating a Mash/Lauter Tun and Kettle/Whirlpool Tank into a compact yet highly functional system, it ensures consistent wort quality, optimized extraction, and reliable performance.
From its robust stainless steel construction and advanced lautering design to precise temperature control and sanitary piping, every detail is built to support stable, high-quality brewing.
Whether for new brewery setups or capacity expansion, SDET‘s 1500L brewhouse provides a scalable and dependable solution, helping brewers achieve both production efficiency and product consistency.
